We didn’t think we would get another dog since our kids were grown and we were empty nesters. It had been over a year since our previous pets, Duchess (13 years) and Annie (15 years) had crossed the rainbow bridge only 2 months apart. After looking at some of the sweet faces needing a new home, we knew we had love to give and a hole in our hearts to fill. 

We picked 2 dogs to meet and Maggie stole our hearts. “She is usually timid” was what her foster said but she greeted us right away.  Kisses and tail wags sealed the deal. She has taken some time to get used to being home while we have to work but now that she knows we will come home she is settling in. 

We have learned that her previous dog mom had passed away and the family had to give her up.  She was well taken care of by Prairie Dog staff and has done wonderfully considering all the changes she has had.  We did consider adopting her dog sister, and they got to visit, but they really seemed to have gotten used to being apart and Maggie was thriving being the top dog. Luckily her sister has also found a new family and home.

We are loving being dog parents again and having a 4 legged bay to spoil.
