**  Ella has been diagnosed with Dilated cardiomyopathy. This condition starts with degeneration of the heart muscle. The muscle becomes thinner and weaker, particularly the normally thick muscular wall of the left ventricle. As the heart weakens, it loses its ability to pump blood effectively. The blood congests in the heart, causing increased pressure, which causes the thin heart muscle walls to stretch. This stretching causes the large, dilated appearance. Some dogs develop a heart murmur if the heart valves become stretched enough to create a leak. Some dogs develop an abnormal heart rhythm because of the stretched heart muscle. Ella requires the following medications to manage this.Enalapril ½ 20mg every 12 hours ($14 per month), Pimobendin ½ 10mg every 12 hours ($97 per month), Lasix 20mg 2 tablets in the morning and 1 tablet in the evening. ($21 per month), and Mucinex ER 1 tab in the morning, this is available over the counter. Dilated Cardiomyopathy is progressive and care should be established with a vet right away to continue medications. A cardiac ultrasound would be recommended every 6-12 months as recommended by your primary care veterinarian.

Foster Home Feedback

7/18/24 Foster Feedback: Are you looking for the perfect companion!? Then look no further. Ella is one of the easiest fosters I have ever had. It did not take her long to fit right into our home. She is potty and crate trained. She also does fine left out when we are gone and doesn't get into anything, just curls up on our bed and sleeps. She knows to sit, down, and stay. Don't let that white face fool you, she is younger and spunkier than she looks! She loves to play with my dog, go for walks, and loves to play with toys. She also loves to curl up and have some snuggle time. She loves everyone she meets and seems like a dog that you can take anywhere and she will be up for anything. She has not been around small children or cats while she has been in the rescue. Hurry up and get your application in for this sweet girl!
