Fosters open their hearts and homes to dogs in need. There is a continuous stream of dogs that need our help, and without fosters, we would never be able to save as many as we do. Unfortunately, we do not have enough foster homes to accept them all. Please consider becoming a 4 Luv of Dog Rescue foster and fill out a Foster Application. You will make a huge difference in a dog’s life.
The first step is to fill out our foster application. Our applications team will review it then contact your landlord, vet reference, and personal references, as applicable. Upon completion, one of our Foster Home Coordinators will contact you to set up a meeting at your home to discuss what dogs might be the best fit for you and answer any questions you may have.
Applicants must be at least 21 years of age. If the applicant is a renter, the landlord or homeowner must give approval to foster. All resident pets should be spayed/neutered and up to date on vaccinations.
We consistently have a wide variety of dogs that need foster homes in order to be accepted into the rescue. We are able to keep foster homes for all kinds of dogs full due to the large number of requests we receive.
Yes. When you are approved to foster, our Foster Coordinators will discuss with you what kinds of dogs will work in your home and will reach out to you with dogs that may be a good fit. It will be your decision which dogs you choose to foster.
Fostering is free! The rescue provides food, veterinary care, and all the needed supplies, including kennels, collars, leashes, etc. We also have opportunities for fosters to bring their foster dogs to training classes, paid for by the rescue.
The amount of time that it takes for a dog to find a home varies. It can be a week, a month, or longer. Many dogs are adopted within one month. If you foster a dog that becomes a longer-term foster and you are unable to continue fostering, we will make other accommodations for the dog.
Yes! The foster home plays a big role in helping the dog find a home quickly. Attending adoption events, keeping the dog’s online feedback updated, and ensuring we have good photos of the dog are all good ways to show off your foster dog to adopters.
Yes. When we have an approved application for your foster dog, you have the opportunity to review it to determine whether you feel the potential adopters can meet the specific needs of your foster dog.
Yes. We ask that foster homes let us know as soon as possible if they are thinking about adopting their foster dog. The foster home is required to pay the adoption fee.
We love welcoming new dogs into our home. Becoming a foster home has allowed us to learn more about different dog breeds and has actually made our black lab a better dog. There is nothing better than knowing that you are helping find homes for these awesome dogs! The 4 Luv of Dog Rescue team is full of people who are here to support each other, making fostering easy to fit in your busy lives.
